Philippians 4:8, TRUE, a-leTHES, LEtho* (25x, 203), Strong’s #227
One. Matt. 22:16 (15-22) JESUS IN TRUTH SILENCES HIS CRITICS. “And they send him their :disciples, with the Herodians, saying, Teacher, we know that you are true, and teaches the way of :God in truth, and cares for no one: for you regard not men’s persons.” “Truth” comes from the Greek root LEtho*, which means to be hidden or covered. But with “a-“ in front of it, the Holy Spirit reveals that what was a mystery is no longer hidden! It is now in the open. It is doubtful if Jesus’ enemies were sincere when they said that they knew he was TRUE! HE was still hidden from them in their flattery.
Two. John 3:33 (31-36) TO HEAR JESUS IS TO WITNESS THAT GOD IS TRUE. “Who has received his witness has set his seal to this that :God is true.” We are to think, speak, live and become whatever is TRUE. When we receive the witness of Jesus concerning Himself and God who sent Him, we acclaim that God is TRUE!
Three. John 8:16 (12-20) THE TESTIMONY OF JESUS: HIS JUDGMENT IS TRUE. “Yes and if I judge, :my :judgment is true; for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.” The Triunity of the Godhead is a great mystery, even as the triunity of man! Yet the judgment of Jesus is TRUE because the Father who sent Him, continued as one with Him!
Four. John 8:26 (21-30) TESTIMONY OF JESUS: GOD HIS FATHER IS TRUE. “I have many things to speak and to judge concerning you: but who sent me is true; and the things I heard from him, these speak I unto the world.” Settle it that God the Father who sent Jesus is TRUE! Then understand from this that all Jesus told us He heard from the Father, as well as all He was unable to share.
Five. John 21:24 WITNESS OF JOHN’S FELLOW-DISCIPLES: HIS WITNESS IS TRUE. “This is the disciple that witnesses of these things, and wrote these: and we know that his :witness is true.” John in his Gospel, records 7 mighty miracles of Jesus, attesting to His Divinity. He also records the 7 “I am’s” of Jesus. All these plus all else he wrote is TRUE.
Six. Rom. 3:4 (3:1-4) PAUL’S DESIRE: THAT GOD BE FOUNDTRUE IN SPITE OF ALL EVIL. “Be it not so: yes, let :God be found true, but every man a liar: as it is written, That you might be justified in your words, And might prevail at your judging.” In spite of all false witness on earth concerning God, even by His professing friends – can be overruled to show Him as TRUE, against the backdrop of man as a liar.
Seven. 1 John 2:8 (7-8) THE OLD AND NEW COMMANDMENT OF LOVE IS TRUE. “Again, a new commandment write I to you, which thing is true, in him and in you; because the darkness is passing away, and the true :light already shines.” Make no doubt about it – the God of the Old Testament is the same God of the New Testament. Jesus makes this abundantly clear. In the light of this, the new commandment of love is TRUE!
